Juneteenth Celebration: Tuskegee Airman Historical Reenactment

As historian, educator, and reenactor, John W. McCaskill brings history alive and has worked with youth groups, cultural and historical organizations, corporations, colleges and universities, churches and the military community. To authenticate his Living History presentations, John adorns period attire for colonial, WWII/Army Air Corps, Tuskegee Airmen, and Civil War U.S. Colored Troops, World War I, Reconstruction, Buffalo Soldier, and the 1960’s Civil Rights period. For our proposed Chevy Chase Library event, he would enact the role of a Tuskegee Airman.

His Living History approach to his presentations creates a transformative experience for his audiences. He answers the “so what” question by illustrating why particular lessons in history are relevant to us today. His goal is to truly bring “history alive”.

Location: Chevy Chase Library, Meeting Room (lower level)
