As a wealthy Victorian, Beatrix faced many obstacles in doing something useful with her life. She gave us imaginative tales which have shaped childhood visions of nature for many generations, exquisite paintings, and ultimately became a country woman and prize-winning sheep farmer who helped save the Lake District landscape that inspired her art.
Author Linda Lear has lectured at the Smithsonian and recently appeared on PBS American Experience featuring the life of Rachel Carson, about whom she has also written.
This program is organized and sponsored by the Potomac Village Garden Club and Friends of the Library, Potomac Chapter.
