The alley is one-way and you cannot enter from Wayne Ave. Volunteers will be on hand to help unload so you can be on your way quickly.

Author Series Evening with Carrie Callaghan, Thursday, May 2, 7-8:30 pm

Historical fiction author Carrie Callaghan will read from and discuss her debut novel, A Light of Her Own, about 17th-century painter Judith Leyster. Judith is a painter, trying to become the first woman admitted to the Haarlem painters guild. Maria is a Catholic in a country where the faith is banned, hoping to absolve her sins by recovering a lost saint’s relic. Both women’s destinies will be shaped by their ambitions, running counter to the city’s most powerful men, whose own plans spell disaster. Callaghan’s short stories have been published in multiple literary journals, and she is senior editor at the Washington Independent Review of Books. A book signing will follow and coffee will be served, courtesy of our generous friends at Kefa Cafe.
