Willard Jenkins

willard-jenkinsSoft spoken, jazz-loving Willard Jenkins is the newest member of the Friends Board. Mr. Jenkins brings a unique perspective of FOLMC’s place in Montgomery County’s non-profit and arts and humanities community. Like many of our other Board members, he is a writer and will soon have his book on jazz music published. He is also a successful fundraiser, and brings his musical mindset and creativity to his work on our Programs Committee.

Mr. Jenkins has worked throughout the country in a myriad of roles in arts administration, journalism, education, broadcasting, consulting, and artistic direction. A graduate of Kent State University in Ohio with a degree in Sociology, he has won acclaim from groups such as the Smithsonian Institution and Harlem Stage/Aaron Davis Hall for his work as an artistic director.

FOLMC is excited to have such a well rounded arts person, who brings us beyond our literary world to new and innovative events for everyone in Montgomery County. Mr. Jenkins, who lives in Rockville, is married to Suzanne Jenkins and has two children. You can learn more about him at his website for his work as an independent arts consultant and producer, http://openskyjazz.com.
