THE ANNUAL ASPEN HILL COMMUNITY FESTIVAL

Saturday October 17 from 11 AM2 PM

Parents, gather your children, and extended family for a free, fun filled family day. Come early and stay late; you won’t want to miss a single part of the program. Each child will receive a balloon and there will be refreshments. The jar of M&M’s will be awarded to the child or adult whose guess is closest to the actual number of candies in the jar. Last year two children came the closest to the number of pennies in the jar. Come on adults, try harder.

The fire engine will again be there. Firemen will be happy to answer questions about the fire engine, the fire department and other job related questions. Don’t be shy, they’ll be happy you’re interested. Traffic patterns have been changed to eliminate the long lines; you’ll be able to move more easily from one table to another. Clowns will be back to make you laugh. Magic Joe will perform tricks that prove the hand is quicker than the eye. Puppeteers will act out fairy tales children love. The Balloon Man will fascinate young and old as he blows balloons into animal shapes in front of your eyes. Anne Nicholson, the children’s face painter, will transform your children to their favorite characters. Chris and Aleen will help children make bookmarks and blank books. Crime Solvers will be on hand to tell you how you can help the Police Department solve crimes.  Maybe even win an award.

The Department of Environmental Protection’s proposed plans for the storm management project and library expansion will be on display that day, as will plans for the rebuilt Trolley Museum.  Take a few minutes to look at them. We’ll try to answer your questions.
