Bob Chartrand Memorial Fund

Robert Lee Chartrand, better known to many as Bob, passed away over the Christmas holiday this December. Bob was a blessing to the libraries through his work with Friends of the Library and initiating projects looking at the future of libraries.

Bob returned to the Board of Trustees of Friends of the Library, Montgomery County after a 15-year hiatus.  For 25 years, he was the Senior Specialist in Information Policy and Technology for the Congressional Research Service of the Library of Congress.  He is the author of countless articles, studies and an award-winning book in the field of emergency management.  Bob also served as President of the Friends of the Library of Collier County in Naples, Florida until he moved back to Montgomery County.

Many Friends have had the opportunity to meet Bob through his humorous talks at the library and nursing homes on the behind-the-scenes look at Washington’s political life. He was a staple at FOLMC’s events, from Read, Eat & Give to our literary luncheons. All of us at FOLMC are thankful to have had the opportunity to meet and get to know Bob over the past few years. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.
