Be a Library Life Saver: Buy Books for Libraries Today

Our public libraries are in dire need of extra financial support. To help, FOLMC has created a way for your dollars to have a tangible and immediate impact. With your tax-deductible donation to FOLMC, you can help the library purchase books that will benefit not only your favorite local branch, but the entire library system through our “Library Life Savers” program. When you make your donation of $250 or more, we’ll provide the library up to 10 name plates to be placed in new books with your name, or you can use them to commemorate a birthday, birth of a child, anniversary or passing of a loved one.

The minimum fee of $250 will cover not only the cost of the new books, but also the administrative fees the library would otherwise incur for adding new books to the system such as the registration and barcode labeling required for circulation. The library has been unable to purchase many new materials because of the severe budget cutbacks, so your donation will directly target an area that is not being taken care of by the county during this economic downturn.

While you cannot choose the specific books to be added to the collection (i.e. you can’t say you want more of the Hunger Games trilogy or Mark Twain’s autobiography), you can specify one of the following categories from which librarians will choose the titles:

• Children’s
• Young Adult (Teen)
• Adult Fiction
• Adult Nonfiction

If you designate your favorite branch, the library will target your support in this area. You can also choose to have the books given to the branches in the most need of help by selecting the “Whole System” option.
