What is Library Lovers Month?

Friends of the Library has designated February as Library Lovers Month. During this month, we recognize the value of libraries in our community, honor librarians and library volunteers, and promote our work to assure that our county libraries continue to thrive and serve the public. The month-long celebration kicks off with a lively cultural program at one of the branches. Throughout the entire month, branches have special programs for all ages, freebies like stickers and pencils and food (even chocolate!).

You can help libraries, especially during Library Lovers Month by donating your time, money and expertise. There are many opportunities to attend local government meetings and public hearings to urge county officials and legislators to invest in our libraries. You can send them letters or emails, write letters to the editor of a local newspaper or complete an "I Love the Library" postcard found at the library or obtained by calling (240) 777-0020. This is also the perfect time to make a monetary donation to Friends of the Library to show your support.
