As you know, Friends of the Library, Montgomery County, Inc. serves the entire library system. Many of the branch libraries have their own chapters dedicated to improving that library.
Each Friends chapter acts similarly to a school PTA. The school system is funded by the County, but each school has a PTA who advocates and raises funds for the school so that each school has the extras that enhance every student’s education and experience. Friends of the Library chapters are the same type of group, but they advocate and fundraise for each individual library.
For many of the 21 Montgomery County Library branches, there’s a Friends chapter.
Volunteer Efforts
In each chapter, volunteers collaborate with the Branch Librarian and Staff to sponsor special events and raise additional funds for their neighborhood library. Many branches run their own local book sales, which go directly back to their libraries.
